He conceded that the defender wants to leave and admitted that the club won’t stand in his way out of respect for the 11 years of service to Hamburg. Polanski was quoted as saying by Bild: “He’s a real rock for us, so this is a big loss. “On the other hand, it’s a question of finances, and there’s Nico’s wish to leave, having given so much to this club over 11 years. “Therefore, we can’t and don’t want to stand in his way.” Nico Elvedi would be a top signing Sebastiaan Bornauw was a useful squad player for Leeds United, but he never really had enough opportunities to establish himself as a reliable back-up. Nico Elvedi would be a strong replacement. The Swiss centre-back has plenty of experience at a high level in one of Europe’s top leagues and has also worked with Daniel Farke in the past. As a regular for Switzerland, Elvedi would bring valuable experience and quality to Leeds’ defence. If the Whites get the deal over the line, it could prove to be another smart piece of business.
