Dan Burn will lead Newcastle United for the first time since being officially named as the new club captain this afternoon against Strasbourg at St James’ Park. Schar has had a difficult 2026 on the injury front after suffering an ankle ligament injury back in January, which ultimately cut his 2025/26 campaign short following a subsequent foot infection. Newcastle United confirmed line-up v Strasbourg Ewen Jaouen also returns to the side after missing the Everton and Valencia matches due to a back injury. Nick Pope is not included in the squad after being made available for transfer. Joelinton and Tino Livramento are out due to injury, while first-team players such as Jacob Ramsey, Aladji Bamba, Bazoumana Toure, Jacob Murphy and William Osula are back involved after not featuring against Leverkusen.
