In the opening minutes of the game, Cowan had a shot on target, but it went narrowly wide. Crainie came close just minutes later, but her shot went over the bar. 20 minutes in and the game was still level, with both teams defending their box well. Killie were back on the attack after a Renfrew corner. Stout had a chance in the 23rd minute, but the ball went over the bar again. Killie had another chance with a wonderful ball in from Martin, but the ball landed in the hands of the goalkeeper. Stout was shown a yellow card in the 30th minute after she sent a Renfrew player to the ground. In the 38th minute, Gray found the bottom-left corner, giving Killie the lead just before half-time. An excellent run from Cowan down the right wing then saw Killie win a corner. Gray was also shown a yellow card in the 41st minute. Renfrew were on the attack after the corner and, in the 49th minute, scored to equalise, making it 1-1. In the 59th minute, Erin O’Brien came on for Cara Gray. Stout had another chance in the 64th minute after curling the ball towards goal, but it went just over the bar. In the 67th minute, Stout got her well-deserved goal after a run down the wing from Cowan, restoring Killie’s lead and making it 2-1. Building on that lead, Stout found the net again after winning the ball with an excellent tackle in the 70th minute, making it 3-1 Killie. After a goalkeeping error, Erin O’Brien built on that lead, making it 4-1 in the 75th minute. Louise Cowan and Kelsy Crainie made way for Lauryn Reside and Fiona Cullie in the 79th minute. Skye Stout came off for Skye McDonald in the 82nd minute, making it Killie’s final change. Erin O’Brien rounded off the scoring in the 86th minute, grabbing her second of the afternoon to make it 5-1. Killie Women came out on top with a 5-1 victory, securing all three points after an impressive opening game of the SWPL 2 season.
