Those three are the likeliest to feature on the opening weekend of the new Premier League campaign. Losers Federico Chiesa didn't have a good game and the Italian struggled to keep the ball. When it was played into him, he rarely got a hold of it. Speed-wise, he is lacking, and it would be a concern if he had to fill in for Alexander Isak on a regular basis in the months to come as a result of those limitations. Harvey Elliott didn't leave much of an impression out on the right wing, either. Player ratings Giorgi Mamardashvili (6). He didn't really have a save to make but his kicking wasn't great. A familiar drawback with the Georgian, who simply doesn't look that comfortable in possession. Calvin Ramsay (6). Not really spoken about as a right-back option, even with Conor Bradley's injury, he did well enough here against a good opponent. He was solid. Wataru Endo (6). Kept things simple at the back and his good positioning made up for his lack of pace across the ground. Organizing those around him well. Luke Chambers (6). One of the major success stories of this pre-season, the left-footed defender was very composed. He didn't need to overstretch himself defensively that much. Kostas Tsimikas (6). Captaining the team, the Greek was generally in the right place at the right time, without pulling up any trees. Allowed Victor Munoz in front of him to do most of the attacking. Andoni Iraola seemed pretty keen for him to stay wide, but he was getting frustrated at not seeing the ball often enough. It was another missed opportunity to impress. James McConnell (6). Operating as an advanced midfielder, he is better a little deeper, where he has more space. Filled in as well as he could and helped press from the front. Victor Munoz (7). At times, he was twisted and turning once too many times, but he can clearly beat a man with ease. His crosses were generally put into good areas too. He was lively, even if the relationships with his teammates still need to be developed. Federico Chiesa (5). Filling in up top, he just couldn't make the ball stick. His hold-up play was poor and he lost possession too easily on numerous occasions. There were a few good runs in behind, but he just doesn't have enough pace to escape his marker. Substitutes Lewis Koumas (6). Injected some speed into the game with his first involvement but slashed the shot wide. Wasn't hugely involved after that. Will Wright (6). Had a couple of half-chances but seemed to need a while to get up to speed. Like Chiesa, turned possession over too easily at times. Kieran Morrison (6). One good run down the right but a largely uneventful outing. A loan should beckon for the Northern Ireland international this coming season. Lucas Pitt and Josh Sonni-Lambie came on too late to earn a rating.
