FORMER Celtic boss Neil Lennon apologised to Dunfermline fans after his side’s dismal exit from the Premier Sports League Cup at East End Park yesterday. The Irishman had hoped to mastermind an action replay of his team’s Scottish Cup heroics last season when they reached the showpiece occasion before losing 3-1 to Martin O’Neill’s men who sealed the double at Hampden on May 23. The Fifers had knocked out Hibs and holders Aberdeen at home and they added a third Premiership club to the list when they beat Falkirk in the semi-final on penalty-kicks. However, there will be no repeat of that achievement in the League Cup after the 2-1 loss to third-tier Ross County.
