Biju, cricket fans can once again expect batting-friendly surfaces that produce plenty of runs while offering an exciting contest between bat and ball. Biju revealed that six main pitches have been prepared for this year's tournament, compared to five last season. The additional pitch will allow the surfaces to be rotated during the competition and help maintain their quality across the two-week tournament. Three separate practice pitches and two astro-turf wickets have also been prepared. How Will the Greenfield Pitch Play? According to Biju, the KCL pitches are expected to offer good bounce and pace, while avoiding becoming too slow as matches progress. The main pitches have been prepared using specially sourced soil from Mandya, Karnataka. The soil is known for its ability to retain moisture, which should help create a consistent surface with good bounce. That could make Greenfield an attractive venue for aggressive stroke-makers. Batters who can trust the bounce are likely to enjoy playing their shots, while fast bowlers could also benefit if they hit the right areas and extract movement from the surface. The numbers from the previous editions suggest that another run-fest could be on the cards. Only three matches produced 200-plus totals in the inaugural season, but that figure increased to seven matches last year. Teams have also successfully chased targets exceeding 200. Biju believes the objective is to maintain the same high-scoring character while ensuring that T20 cricket remains competitive and entertaining. Rain Unlikely to Cause Major Problems The Greenfield Stadium also has a major advantage when it comes to unpredictable Kerala weather. Its advanced drainage system is designed to allow play to resume roughly 30 minutes after rainfall stops, significantly reducing the chances of lengthy interruptions. With only the final stages of rolling left, Biju and his team of around 25 workers are putting the finishing touches to the playing surface.
