It will feel strange for supporters to see him playing for one of Liverpool’s rivals now, with Robertson having joined Tottenham. The left-back had the chance to move to north London back in January, with Spurs returning for him as he became a free agent. And already, Roberto De Zerbi is seeing exactly what the 32-year-old will bring to his side, with Robertson producing a trademark assist on Saturday. He set new teammate Richarlison up for Tottenham’s opener during the 3-0 win over German side Hoffenheim on Saturday. Having picked the ball up out wide on the left, Robertson wasted no time at all to fire in a pinpoint cross to the Brazilian, who had the simple task of turning the ball home. Liverpool fans who have seen a clip of the goal online will no doubt be feeling nostalgic — and it might just add a bit more pressure on Milos Kerkez. The 22-year-old was signed last year with a view to him becoming Robertson’s long-term successor, but a mixed first season at Anfield has left some questions about his position. Although he looked to be finding his feet midway through the 2025/26 campaign, Kerkez’s form dipped again toward the end of the season, resulting in Robertson reclaiming his place in the team. The Hungarian has been boosted after being reunited with his former Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola this summer, which he hopes will see him kick on in his second year at Liverpool, although he was named on the bench for last weekend’s friendly against Monaco, with Kostas Tsimikas getting the nod ahead of him. Speaking about being reunited with Iraola earlier this summer, Kerkez said: "I worked for him before, and he helped me and improved me a lot in the two years that I spent with him. "I was really happy he got the job: obviously for myself, but also for the team. Everyone knows what type of football he plays, so I think he is the perfect fit for us. “He’s all about intensity. He’s not scared to play one-on-one all over the pitch, to press high and to be on the front foot always. I think the other guys also like how he works." Liverpool.com says: It feels weird seeing Robertson in a Spurs kit after all of his years at Anfield, and no doubt it’ll feel even weirder when Liverpool comes up against Tottenham in the new season.
