Although he arrived three weeks after the Turkish top-flight campaign had begun, Osimhen still finished the 2024-25 season as the Süper Lig’s leading scorer, finding the net 26 times to claim the Gol Kralı award. There was no significant drop-off in his output in the following campaign, as he accumulated 30 goal contributions across all competitions, and it’s no surprise such consistent, prolific form is now attracting interest from several top clubs across Europe. One of the clubs now looking to sign Osimhen is Arsenal, according to Sébastien Denis, who claims that the Premier League champions are accelerating their efforts to sign the Nigerian this summer. The Gunners are now convinced they can complete the signing of Osimhen before the transfer deadline after Mikel Arteta requested him as his priority target for this summer, according to the French journalist. ‘Phenomenal’ forward Denis adds that although there’s no current price tag on Osimhen, Galatasaray are hoping to recoup at least the initial £59m they paid Napoli to sign him permanently last summer. In a separate report, Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke, speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, has provided more updates on the possibility of Arsenal signing Osimhen as well as the finances that could be involved. He said, ‘Yeah, the overall package of the deal is probably where it’ll really cost. I think the transfer fee won’t be too high. You’re probably looking at £60m plus, which I think that Galatasaray would accept for him, but he’s on a huge deal over there in Turkey. I think it’s over £300,000 a week. ‘So yeah, it would be a large outlay for Arsenal if they do go ahead and sign Osimhen. Really exciting move if they do bring him in because he’s been linked with moves to the Premier League for such a long time now, and nothing’s really ever happened with him before.‘ Amid interest in several attacking options, it’ll be interesting to see how Arsenal’s attack will shape up ahead of their Premier League opener against newly promoted Coventry City at the Emirates Stadium on Friday 21st August.
