MN: Maignan and Rabiot at Milanello for training as Amorim's plan takes shape - the idea

As expected, Mike Maignan and Adrien Rabiot have returned to the AC Milan training ground to begin training ahead of the new season.
Maignan and Rabiot returning today has certainly caused a bit of controversy. Indeed, it has been a mainstay in the papers this week and it has caused quite a discussion around the club. Of course, it’s going to, though.
However, Ruben Amorim has looked to protect his players, stating that the decision was his after the win against Manchester United yesterday.
“Rabiot and Maignan had more days off because they played more. That was important to me.
“Everyone complains about the number of games and the players being unable to cope with the strain, and I gave the players those extra days because I already knew they wouldn’t be able to play today’s match. So I gave them three more days. Nothing will change. And I need to say that it was my decision, not the players’.”
It makes a lot of sense, of course, and now it must pay off with them being ready for the first weekend of the season.
Maignan and Rabiot return
There is only a week until that first game against Torino, but Amorim seemingly has a plan.
According to MilanNews, the duo have reported for training this morning – which started at 11:00 CEST – and general tests will likely be conducted to see their fitness levels. Tomorrow, they will rest, and then on Tuesday training will resume with the full team.
Of course, this is big news in itself that Amorim will have the full group together for the first time. After this weekend’s win though, there can be some optimism for the season.
