As things stand, the 23-year-old will be tasked with firing them to promotion from the second-tier unless another transfer is in the offing. The young forward is said to be of serious interest to several top-flight Italian clubs, including Bologna and Cagliari, with Verona reportedly looking to hold out for up to £10 million if they were to sell Bowie this summer. And it’s suggested that Sassuolo, who have another ex-Hibs prospect in Josh Doig among their ranks, are preparing a player plus cash offer involving former Italy Under-21 starlet Samuel Mulattieri to land Bowie’s signature after displaying concrete interest in the player for some time. Doig followed that exact path in 2022, quitting Hibs for Verona before signing for Sassuolo 18 months later after being refused a switch to Marseille in France. Bowie could link up with his fellow international colleague with I Neroverdi in the near future. Sassuolo - based in Emiglia-Romagna in northern Italy - finished a respectable 11th in Serie A last term, fully 28 points ahead of Verona. Bowie was previously on Celtic’s radar before the Scottish champions moved to sign Camilo Duran from Azerbaijani side Qarabag for £6m earlier this month. He scored 15 goals during his time in Leith and is contracted to Verona until June 2030.
