Celtic were also said to be mulling over an offer to bring the striker back to the Scottish Premiership, who scored 15 goals during his 18-month stint at Easter Road, but may be priced out of a move after reports in Italy claimed Hellas Verona chiefs had slapped a whopping £13million price tag on his head in order to warn off interested parties. It’s understood that I Gialloblu head coach Marco Baroni has insisted that his club keep hold of Bowie for the upcoming Serie B season, with the forward deemed as vitally important to the club’s hopes of promotion and an immediate return to the Italian top flight, and that the club are desperate to hang onto him beyond the current transfer window despite mounting interest in his services. Speaking about interest from both Celtic and Rangers in April, Bowie told the Hibs Observer: “I think a few times, maybe something had been mentioned, but it was never anything concrete. I didn’t want to stay in Scotland, or even in the UK. I wanted to try and do something a bit different, culturally, and experience something new. “I spoke to Josh [Doig, Scotland international and former Hellas Verona left-back] before I came, because he and I are quite close. When we spoke, he had nothing but good things to say about Verona as a city and as a club as well. I think that just made my mind up. Obviously, there’s quite a few other Scottish boys that are here, and have done well for themselves. That was one of the main things: to come here, and to challenge myself to something different. I’ve seen other Scottish players doing well – I thought, that could be me too.” Meanwhile, Bowie’s international teammate Scott McKenna continues to be linked with a move away from Dinamo Zagreb following his impressive debut season at. The 29-year-old defender won the Hrvatska Nogometna Liga [HNL] title and Croatian Cup double in his first season with the club, and has been linked with Celtic, Torino and Trabzonspor in recent weeks. However, the Croatian champions say they remain hopeful of holding on to their key players during the summer transfer window, with Dinamo Zagreb president Zvonimir Boban revealing that McKenna is not angling for a move and is loving life in the capital city. “Big European clubs want some of our players, but they like it here,” said Boban. “For example, Sergi Dominguez loves the club and could stay. He's not the only one with that attitude, Scott McKenna thinks the same and we have also had enquiries for him. In fact, none of the foreign players in our club have expressed a desire to leave."
