Hamburg have been in advanced negotiations to sign the defender on loan, and an agreement is now close between the two clubs. According to Hamburger Morgenpost, Bornauw is due in Hamburg in the coming hours today for a medical with the Bundesliga outfit. Hamburg are pushing to get him through a medical soon before finalising a loan deal to sign the centre-back on loan for the season from Leeds. It is unclear whether the German club will have an option to make the move permanent. Bornauw joined Leeds last summer, but he struggled to establish himself as a regular and now wants to return to the Bundesliga after a season at Elland Road. Leeds are getting a solid replacement for Sebastiaan Bornauw Sebastiaan Bornauw was a useful squad player for Leeds United, but he never really had enough opportunities to establish himself as a reliable back-up. Nico Elvedi would be a strong replacement. The Swiss defender has plenty of experience at the highest level in one of Europe’s major leagues and has already worked with Daniel Farke. He is also a regular for Switzerland, so Elvedi would bring plenty of experience and quality to Leeds’ backline.
