Benjamin Nygren has started this season right where he left off last term. The biggest challenge for Celtic now is to keep hold of the player until the transfer window slams shut. Arne Engels had his departure confirmed after full-time last night. He’s penned a 5-year deal with English Championship side West Ham, and Celtic will need to dip into the market to replace him. Niko Sigur is one of the names linked, and he would cost the Hoops a modest £3m. While already losing the Belgian, Celtic can’t afford to lose another midfielder who contributes so much. And Martin O’Neill was full of praise for Nygren last night as the Hoops breezed past Dundee United in the League Cup. He said: “Yeah, great goal, really great goal. “And he’s capable, he does the one thing that’s the hardest thing in the game to do, puts the ball in the net.
