Liverpool's updated stance on selling Cody Gakpo to Tottenham revealed Liverpool are not planning to let Cody Gakpo join Tottenham unless they sign several new attackers in this window, sources have told Football Insider. Gakpo has emerged as Spurs' top target while Roberto De Zerbi focuses on bolstering his attacking options. Tottenham are yet to sign an attacker this summer, instead spending over £230million on numerous defenders and midfielders. Andoni Iraola does not want to lose Gakpo this summer, even though the Reds are keen on signing a new first-choice left winger. He was often criticised by fans last season, but as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Liverpool have no plans to sell Gakpo to Spurs unless something drastically changes in the coming weeks. Their pursuit of PSG star Bradley Barcola has stalled too, which points towards an extended stay on Merseyside for the Dutchman. Liverpool not planning to let Cody Gakpo join Tottenham Hugo Ekitike's long-term injury means that Gakpo is also likely to be used as a striker in rotation with Alexander Isak for the time being. Liverpool hold all the cards in negotiations after the 27-year-old extended his contract at Anfield to 2030 last summer. "Spurs will be hoping that might change if Liverpool bring in their own attacking reinforcements. But as things stand right now, I don't think Liverpool can afford to let Gakpo go, because they're going to need him this season. “Unless Liverpool bring in more players, I don't think Andoni Iraola will be looking to leave his squad short by offloading somebody like Gakpo, so there are lots of hurdles for this one to overcome for Spurs to have any chance of landing Gakpo before the window closes.” Bristol City in race with European sides to sign Kieran Morrison Liverpool youngster Morrison has made an impression off the left flank in pre-season, but is not set to be included in Iraola's first-team plans for the coming campaign.
