Tottenham Hotspur’s Cristian Romero has been linked with a move to Inter Milan. Backing for the transfer has now arrived from a former club president. The player has appeared keen on the move and is ready to leave Tottenham. Former Genoa president Enrico Preziosi has now spoken about the centre-back, who made his name playing for his club. Player told to join Inter The Italian spoke to TuttoSport – via Calciomercato, about the situation of Romero, who he saw closely during his spell at Genoa. He also offered details into his departure from Italy and how the Tottenham move came about. Preziosi said, suggesting Juve made a mistake in selling him: “I sold him to Juventus, telling Paratici: ‘Look, this is an important player .’ Romero stayed with us for another season, then the Bianconeri decided to sell him to Atalanta for a lower price than they had paid for him, with the Nerazzurri then selling him to England for triple the price. “It was a huge mistake by Juve, because Romero was a Juventus player.” Preziosi further said that Romero deserves to win more trophies at club level. A move to Inter would help that. “He’s worth €40m. I know him very well, and he’s even matured now, just look at him for Argentina. He never gives up. He’s reliable, he deserves a team that wants to win. Any top club that needs a centre back must think he’s the right player.” Backing the move further, he said: “If Inter can reach an agreement, it would be an excellent deal. He’s 28, but I think he can still have six great seasons. Romero is a centre back, he commands the defence, but I think if they put him on the left or right centre, he’d perform just as well.”
