Who is left from Aberdeen's Scottish Cup winning team as shootout hero becomes latest departure Dimitar Mitov has become the most recent player from the 2025 winners to leave the club, with only a handful remaining at Pittodrie little over a year on from the famous day at Hampden. The famous Aberdeen team that won the Scottish Cup is slowly but surely fading away, with another member of the squad that stunned Celtic departing Pittodrie. Dimitar Mitov was the hero that day as his two penalty saves brought the cup back to the Granite City for the first time in 35 years. The Bulgarian has this week completed his transfer to German side St Pauli, taking the total number of players that have left the Dons since winning the cup up to 13. Just a handful remain from that day at Hampden, but more could be set for their exits this summer as Stephen Robinson continues his squad rebuild. Here's a look at what has happened to the Aberdeen team that won the Scottish Cup just 15 months ago. Starting XI Dimitar Mitov - Arguably the star of the show and the man who brought the cup back to Pittodrie, the Bulgarian keeper denied Callum McGregor and Alistair Johnston to secure glory for the Dons. He stayed the following season but has this week left to join St Pauli in a six-figure deal. Alexander Jensen - A Thelin summer signing the year before that day at Hampden, Jensen was a regular in the squad and the first of the five defenders that stumped the Celts in Mount Florida. He joined Thelin's former club Elfsborg earlier this summer. Mats Knoester - Dutch defender Knoester was heroic that afternoon, as were all three of the centre-backs that had to defend from minute one to 120. He remains at the club and is currently working his way back to fitness after an injury at the end of last season. Jack Milne - For a player that had barely kicked a ball for the first team, you would have thought the youngster had been in the mix for several seasons. Milne remains a Don and was a standout performer at Hampden. Alfie Dorrington - He had the misfortune of scoring an own-goal in a Scottish Cup Final, but it didn't matter in the end as he picked up a winners medal. Dorrington signed a new loan deal in the months after the final, but returned to Tottenham Hotspur after it was cut short before being sent out again to Salford City. Nicky Devlin - The third member of the team that remains a Don is Devlin, and he was the fifth player in the defence that shone in the final. He has been frozen out of the side by Stephen Robinson but is working to break back into the starting XI. Leighton Clarkson - English midfielder Clarkson was brought to the north-east by Jim Goodwin, and ended up winning silverware for another Jim as he helped Thelin's side to cup glory. His stay came to an end in February when he signed for Blackpool. Graeme Shinnie - The captain set the standards that day, and one of Aberdeen's own remains the most recent skipper to lead his team to silverware. He scored the first penalty in the shootout, and captained the side last season but has since turned down and offer to stay at Pittodrie and made his return to Inverness this summer. Ante Palaversa - The fourth player to step up and take a penalty for Aberdeen - Palaversa famously let a few swear words slip in the post-match celebrations as the emotions got the best of the players. He remains an Aberdeen player but has been linked with a summer exit. Kevin Nisbet - Plenty of Scots dream of winning the cup, and Nisbet got to fulfil that dream with the team he now captains under Robinson. He made his move permanent in the summer after the final and now is looking to lead the team to more glory this season. Topi Keskinen - The rapid Finn, like many in the team, had been signed by Thelin the summer prior to their Scottish Cup triumph, and he was the mega money arrival at Pittodrie. He played his part and helped steer the Dons to glory, but has since left the club this summer to join Odense. Substitutes Ross Doohan - One of two unused substitutes at Hampden, the goalkeeper joined the beaten finalists last summer and has since been waiting patiently for an opportunity with Celtic. Jack MacKenzie - The defender endured a challenging week, having been struck by a chair in a chaotic end to their final Premiership game at Tannadice. But he bounced back to savour the occasion and win silverware for his hometown club, with Aberdonian later joining Plymouth Argyle that summer. Kristers Tobers - Another defender who remains with the Dons, yet fans have seen very little of him after he picked up a serious knee injury against Motherwell last autumn. Dante Polvara - The American boy in the team was a big hit with fans, but his time also came to an end as he returned stateside to join St Louis City SC in January. He was one of the four penalty scorers and etched his name in the history books with his strike from the spot. Shayden Morris - The man that made all the difference on the day - Shady Mo forced the own-goal that took the game to extra-time and eventual glory. He joined Luton Town in September after a six-figure offer from the English League One side and has since gone on to win more silverware, lifting the ELF Trophy after beating Stockport County. Fletcher Boyd - One of the other north-east youngsters that have since left the club is Fletcher Boyd, who joined Aston Villa last summer. He was also an unused sub that day at Hampden. Oday Dabbagh - The Palestinian striker earned Aberdeen's place in the final with the late winner over Hearts and scored in the shootout. He departed the Dons at the end of his loan that season. Pape Habib Gueye - Kasimpasa came calling for Gueye in the weeks after the final, with the striker joining the Turkish outfit.
