In Atlanta, Claressa Shields (19-0, 4 KOs) added another accomplishment to a Hall of Fame career, dropping down from heavyweight (176+ pounds for women) to win the WBC and WBA middleweight titles. Shields had an easy time of it, too, dethroning Australia's Kaye Scott (5-2-1) in the sixth round. Scott was knocked down once and seemed out on her feet when her corner threw in multiple towels to end the fight. Shields' punches caused a hematoma on Scott's forehead starting in the second round. DAZN reported that attendance at the venue was 16,000. Shields, already a five-division champ, competed at heavyweight her last time out, dominating Franchon Crews-Dezurn to remain the undisputed champion. Wanting more gold and potentially bigger fights against Lauren Price and Mikayla Mayer, Shields moved down a couple of weight classes to take on Scott, the 41 year-old WBA and WBC champion.
