Burnley player ratings vs Torino as 'more convincing' display earns 7/10 Player ratings from Burnley’s 1-0 pre-season friendly defeat to Torino Burnley fell to a 1-0 defeat to Italian side Torino in their final friendly of the summer. Ali Dembele’s close-range first-half strike proved to be enough to separate the two sides in this even encounter at Turf Moor, a week out from Burnley’s first competitive outing of the 2026/27 season. It was a familiar story for Nicky Hayen’s side, who finish pre-season without tasting victory, as they showed signs of promise while also needing to make plenty of improvements ahead of the new campaign. Here’s how Burnley’s players rated: Player ratings Max Weiss - 7 Pulled off a couple of excellent saves to deny Giovanni Simeone, one in either half. A far more convincing display. Kyle Walker - 7 Looked more settled back in his usual right back spot, although he often came inside to help build up play. Had a header cleared off the line and immediately raced back to make an important block. Hjalmar Ekdal - 6 Solid and steady. Don’t recall him being too involved in any of the major flashpoints in the game, but didn’t do a lot wrong. Bashir Humphreys - 5 Poor defending for the Torino goal, where he was outmuscled far too easily. The same happened a couple of minutes beforehand too. Lucas Pires - 5 Plenty of endeavour, but he switched off a couple of times defensively and lost his man for the Torino goal. Ugo Raghouber - 6 Tidied up nicely and with minimal fuss, although he’s got to make sure he takes extra care with every pass after a couple of wayward ones. Josh Laurent - 6 Brought some drive and physicality to Burnley’s central midfield, but lacked in execution at times during the build up play. Click here Hannibal - 6 Crucial to Burnley’s press and forced turnovers fairly regularly. Corners were dangerous too. But lost his temper at one point, which he needs to work on. Marcus Edwards - 7 Burnley’s biggest threat. Didn’t always come off for him, but he was the one bringing invention and looking to make things happen. Jacob Bruun Larsen - 6 Hit and miss. Looked threatening in bursts, but not often enough. Needs more conviction and confidence in the final third. Zian Flemming - 6 Not quite as sharp in front of goal as we’ve come to expect. Squandered a big chance early on before threatening with two headers. Selected subs Oliver Sonne - 6 For Pires, 67 Almost levelled late on for Burnley, only to be denied by a smart save, before flashing a shot high and wide in stoppage time. Aaron Ramsey - 6 For Laurent, 67 Looked to get into the box and force a late equaliser, but he was thwarted by a solid and well-organised Torino defence. Mike Tresor - 6 For Bruun Larsen, 67 Looked bright on the ball again. Showed some good touches and linked up play well. Shame we didn’t see more of him. Joe Worrall - 6 For Ekdal, 72 A couple of wayward passes aside, defended pretty solidly and on the front foot to force interceptions. Shurandy Sambo - 6 For Walker, 72 Provided the deep cross for Sonne’s late chance, but otherwise didn’t have a great deal of time to make an impression. Lyle Foster - 6 For Flemming, 72 Almost got in behind on one occasion as Burnley chased a late equaliser, but was crowded out at the all important moment. Lacking in match sharpness.
