One of those strict rules leaves the teenager unable to wear the club's new training kit sponsor because of gambling regulations. United's multi-million-pound deal came in spite of the top-flight's impending rule in the 2026/27 season that bans betting firms from being the front-of-shirt sponsors for clubs. The rule was first agreed in April 2023, but the ban doesn't stop betting companies from being featured on shirt sleeves and training kits, as well as appearing in stadiums. Gabriel also remains banned from getting dressed in United's first-team changing rooms. The youngster is separated from his team-mates before and after a game as Premier League regulations state that any player under 18 years old must change in a separate area from the senior squad, for both training sessions and matches. Gabriel will be able to enter the changing room after his team-mates are dressed in order to United boss Michael Carrick give his team talks. And the youngster is also blocked from signing a professional deal. He will remain on youth terms for more than a year. Not until his 17th birthday, on October 6, 2027, can he sign a pro contract.
