KU volleyball sweeps alumni team in annual match LAWRENCE, Kan. (WIBW) - Despite taking on a team filled with professional volleyball players, KU volleyball looked far superior to its alumni squad on Saturday. The Jayhawks swept the annual match, 3-0. Reese Ptacek, Cristin Cline, and Taylor Stanley were among the top performing players on the varsity side. KU has one more exhibition match, next Saturday against Creighton, before starting its season at the end of the month. “You can hear them buying in. I believe they actually mean that and aren’t just saying that,” head coach Matt Ulmer said about his team earlier in the week. “I think they’ve given their best. We found a way to make it to the 3rd round of the NCAA Tournament just by outworking people. Which is a great quality to have. So hopefully, now, we don’t lose that.” Copyright 2026 WIBW.
