PSG announces blockbuster transfer to give Liverpool ultimate Bradley Barcola hope
Liverpool's chances of landing Bradley Barcola may have been boosted in the summer transfer window, with Paris Saint-Germain sealing another blockbuster transfer
Yet another transfer domino has fallen in the case surrounding Bradley Barcola, as Paris Saint-Germain has announced another blockbuster signing this summer.
It comes as Liverpool looks to complete a deal for the French international in the final few weeks of the window, with Andoni Iraola hoping to add a new winger to his roster. The 23-year-old has just two years left on his contract with PSG, and after turning down a new deal with the club, an exit was always on the cards.
The Reds have been keen on a move for Barcola, but discussions over a transfer have come with little progression so far, with differences in valuation between Liverpool and PSG at this stage.
There have been many dominoes that have had to fall for it to reach this stage, and others have had to continue falling before a switch can be completed.
That includes potential replacements for PSG in the market, with the European champions on the lookout for fresh options to bring into the team for next season.
Maghnes Akliouche and Ferran Torres both joined as two new arrivals, but another move in the forward line has only added optimism to the situation surrounding Barcola.
That being the signing of Mika Godts from Ajax, with the Belgian winger adding a third new arrival in the frontline, filling out the roster with even more options.
The 21-year-old features across the frontline, capable of playing on the left, right, and as an attacking midfielder.
Last season, he managed to pick up 17 goals and 12 assists in the Eredivisie.
Upon joining PSG, Godts told the official club website: "I am extremely proud to join one of the best clubs in the world. I can't wait to wear these colors, to experience the Parc des Princes and its fans.
"I will give everything to repay on the pitch the faith shown in me by President Nasser Al-Khelaifi, Luis Campos, and coach Luis Enrique."
That now means PSG has too many players in those forward positions to give meaningful minutes to everyone, freeing up several stars for transfers.
Barcola is one of them, but Ibrahim Mbaye could be available too, with Liverpool also keen to land the Senegalese international in the remaining weeks of the transfer window.
It remains to be seen whether one, both, or neither of player makes their way to Anfield as the transfer market continues to dwindle.
