Arsenal are determined to sign Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen before the transfer deadline, according to Turkish outlet Sozcu Gazetesi. The Gunners have made just one attacking signing in Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge this summer. The Greek had a good pre-season, and he looks poised to start the new campaign on the left wing. Arsenal are still looking to add more quality to their attack, and Sozcu report that manager Mikel Arteta is eager to sign a ‘world-class’ player before the transfer window closes. It is added that the Gunners are reluctant to meet Atletico’s £100 million-plus price tag for Julian Alvarez, and have identified Osimhen as an ‘accessible and elite’ alternative. Arsenal appear ‘determined’ to sign the Nigerian star, and agent George Gardi could be involved. Gardi previously acted as an intermediary for Osimhen’s initial loan move to Galatasaray from Napoli. Arsenal should avoid a potential deal for Osimhen The Gunners are looking to upgrade their attacking options ahead of the new season. Viktor Gyokeres had a tough introduction at the Gunners last term, but the Swede improved with his distribution and hold-up play, aside from scoring several goals. With Gyokeres and Kai Havertz, Arsenal have two solid solutions up front even if Gabriel Jesus leaves. They could also rely on Mikel Merino to operate as a makeshift striker. Merino was superb at the World Cup for Spain with two heroic match-winning goals. Meanwhile, Osimhen scored 22 goals for Galatasaray last season, but he tends to squander key chances. The striker missed 31 big scoring opportunities during the previous campaign. Hence, we are not convinced that Arsenal should make a big-money offer for him. Osimhen could easily cost £70-80m, and his wage demands could be steep. The former Napoli striker already earns a hefty £308,000 per week at Galatasaray.
