The 20-year-old returned from a loan spell at Lincoln City over the summer and is looking to kick on. His introduction from the bench lifted both United and their supporters as he played down the left, which also allowed Callum O’Hare to return to his more natural position more centrally. But One sparked concern amongst Unitedites when he received some treatment shortly after coming on, after seemingly damaging a hamstring. On the impact he made, Wilder said: “I mean, you expect the young man to do that because of who he is. “They were chucking on Demairi Gray, who’s an absolute superstar but can't get a game. We'll deal with our players and try and get the best out of them. “And Ryan, I thought, made an impact. The supporters were lifted with his introduction. I thought our supporters were great all afternoon and early evening. And there's some work to be done. We know we're light on some bodies. I don’t think it's anything too serious. If it was, we would have brought him off. “But he just couldn't go flat out and full tilt. So he was sort of 50 per cent, really. I think when you feel something's there, you don't really want to open up. And he's an explosive player, as you saw when he picked the ball up and took it for a run. So, yeah, that was obviously a big disappointment because we just felt the substitution changed the game a little bit. “But I thought it was an entertaining game. It wasn't a dull game. It wasn't 40, 50 passes a goal. Both teams wanted to play forward, wanted to test out the opposition's back four. “Just from my point of view, we're just a little bit loose. And when we get through that little period, I'm sure we'll smooth things out and be a lot more cleaner and have a lot more control of games.”
