Liverpool injury latest and return dates with Jeremy Jacquet boost ahead of Como
All the latest Liverpool injury news and updates, including the latest on Jeremy Jacquet, Curtis Jones, Joe Gomez, and more ahead of the Como friendly clash on Sunday
Liverpool's injury issues have not let up over the summer break, with several stars still suffering from issues old and new over the course of the past few months.
The Reds will be without some key stars for the final preseason clash with Como as a result, as Andoni Iraola looks to put out a near-full first team in the match hosted at Anfield, which takes place after a behind-closed-doors friendly against the same opponent.
There could be some key returns as well, as Liverpool looks ahead to the friendly, with focus after that switching toward the Premier League and the opening clash away at Newcastle the week after. So, with that said, here's a look at the latest Liverpool injury news and predicted return dates ahead of the Como friendly.
Alexis Mac Allister
Alexis Mac Allister has yet to feature in preseason, due to an extended summer break following his long World Cup campaign that only ended last month. The midfielder is now back in action for Liverpool and is expected to feature against Como in one of the two friendly matches against the Serie A club over the weekend.
Predicted return date: Como (H) - August 16
Jeremy Jacquet
Liverpool's backline is set to be boosted by the introduction of Jeremy Jacquet. The young French defender joined the club this summer, but has yet to feature in the friendly matches, as he is managing a knee issue. There is an expectation that the center-back will finally be available for Iraola against Como, though it is unclear how many minutes he will be advised to play at such an early point in his own preseason journey.
Predicted return date: Como (H) - August 16
Curtis Jones
Curtis Jones was a surprise omission from Liverpool's defeat to Monaco last week, with a hip issue ruling the midfielder out of action for the friendly.
The academy graduate has been linked with a transfer exit, but remains with Liverpool for the time being, and was spotted back in training on Wednesday. That means, barring any other issues, Jones should be available for the clash with Como.
Predicted return date: Como (H) - August 16
Joe Gomez
After suffering plenty of injury issues in his time at Liverpool, Joe Gomez was handed another setback during preseason, just minutes into the opening friendly against Sunderland. The defender picked up a muscular problem in the match, which Iraola confirmed would see him miss at least the opening match of the season against Newcastle, though no defined return date has been mentioned for the star.
Predicted return date: September 2026
Giovanni Leoni
There is finally a light at the end of the tunnel for Giovanni Leoni, as the defender is nearing a return from the serious knee injury he suffered on debut last season. The Italian ace has been back in partial training, as he looks to get back involved on the turf, with some hope that he could return to action in the next month or so. It may take some time for him to fully ease back in after such a lengthy layoff, however.
Predicted return date: September 2026
Conor Bradley
Another star who is recovering from a serious knee injury is Conor Bradley, who picked up the issue back in January, which required surgery to fix some damage to the bone and ligament. The Northern Ireland international is still a little way off being able to compete, with Iraola confirming that it would take "months" before the right-back could return to action.
Predicted return date: November 2026
Hugo Ekitike
Hugo Ekitike suffered an Achilles injury toward the end of last season, which ruled the striker out of action at the World Cup, while he would also miss out on the first half of the new campaign too. The French international has been spotted in training, building up his fitness with rehabilitation, but there will be some way to go before he is available.
Predicted return date: November 2026
