Millwall head coach Alex Neil has provided an injury update on Super Eagles star Femi Azeez following his early withdrawal in the 2-0 victory over Bristol City on Saturday afternoon. The Nigeria forward started the encounter but was forced off in the first half after feeling discomfort in his hamstring, with Kyrell Lisbie coming on to replace him in the 30th minute at Ashton Gate. Despite his absence, Millwall went on to secure a comfortable victory, with Josh Coburn scoring in both halves to complete a brace. Speaking to the press after the game, Neil revealed that Azeez reported feeling something in his hamstring but expressed hope that the injury is not serious. “I’m not sure,” Neil told NewsAtDen. “He just says he felt something in his hamstring. We’re hoping that it’s not going to be anything significant. I don’t think it is at this stage from speaking to him.” “But, I could’ve said that about another four players that are probably sitting at the treatment table now. I don’t want to say too much about it. We hope Femi’s fine. He’s been a talisman for us. “The fact that I didn’t think we missed him today, I think, speaks volumes about Kyrell’s performance and the team’s performance. Hopefully he’s okay, and we’ll see where we go.” Neil will be keen to have the Nigerian attacker back in contention for Millwall’s first home game against Norwich City next week, given his importance to the team. Azeez was a key figure for the club last season, scoring 11 goals and providing eight assists in 35 league appearances to help Millwall secure a place in the playoffs.
