Tottenham youngster has emerged as a target for Real Betis. In July, Mathys Tel’s representatives approached Galatasaray to offer the Tottenham Hotspur winger the opportunity to make the switch to Turkey. The Frenchman is understood to be craving a change of scenery, although he has featured predominantly in Roberto De Zerbi’s pre-season plans this summer. Galatasaray have lately been seriously considering a move for Mathys Tel. The 21-year-old struggled for regular minutes last season and was also omitted from the Champions League squad during the league phase. He could not hold down a spot in the first XI under different managers. While De Zerbi trusted him with regular starts at the back end of the previous campaign, the winger does not appear convinced about the role he is going to play this term. Real Betis see potential loan opportunity for Mathys Tel Galatasaray aren’t the only club interested in the Tottenham youngster. A club from La Liga has entered the race for the player. According to Spanish outlet El Correo de Andalucía (h/t Sport Witness), Tel features on Real Betis’ shortlist of forward options. The La Liga club could ask Spurs about the possibility of signing the French youth international on a season-long loan. They feel the lack of European football at White Hart Lane could play a part in tempting the player to make the switch to Benito Villamarin. Tel has been considered by Real Betis before and they have now reignited their interest in signing him. The Spanish outfit feel the former Bayern Munich prodigy would have a strong chance of getting plenty of minutes under coach Manuel Pellegrini. The Sarcelles-born talent isn’t considered an undisputed starter under De Zerbi, despite the number of minutes he has clocked in the pre-season. That could encourage Real Betis in their pursuit of a temporary move for the versatile winger. Regular football at a club, which will be competing in the Champions League in the forthcoming season will be a tantalising prospect for Tel. It certainly cannot be ignored by a player hungry to establish himself as a mainstay in a team. Should Spurs end up adding a couple of attackers to their squad, the possibility of a loan move for Tel late in the transfer window will open up. Pellegrini’s club could then pounce on the opportunity to sign the Tottenham talent on a temporary basis. For now, an exit does not appear on the cards.
