She also swam to a European Championship title in the process. Her time broke her previous record of a 2:10.49 that she swam during semifinals last summer at the 2025 World Championships in Singapore. She went out slower on the butterfly leg today but used a strong backstroke leg to put her ahead of record pace. She was able to close on her freestyle leg 0.41 seconds faster today to stay under the record. Earlier this week, Walshe reset the Irish National Record in the 400 IM as well, touching in a 4:34.42. That broke her previous record of a 4:35.32. She also holds Irish National Records in the LCM 100 fly, 200 fly, 200 free, and 200 back.
