Max Alleyne opens up on Burnley-Man City link after sealing loan move Max Alleyne becomes the latest in a long line of former and current Manchester City stars to make the move to Turf Moor. The 21-year-old is well regarded at the Etihad and has already featured for the first-team, having made seven appearances during the second half of last season. He follows in the footsteps of fellow former City centre-backs Taylor Harwood-Bellis and CJ Egan-Riley, while he’s also likely to play plenty of football alongside stalwart Kyle Walker, who won everything there is to win under Pep Guardiola. Not only that, Alleyne admits he spoke to former Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford, who came through the youth ranks at City and has recently left to join Leeds United. “I spoke to Traff, who was obviously here as well, to ask about the size of the club and things to know about before coming here,” Alleyne said. “Excitement was the main feeling.” Subscribe now for HALF PRICE and catch every minute of our Clarets coverage this season - from pre-season to the final whistle. But it’s just another thing that is just very re-assuring as a player. “You can see the pathway as a player and it’s a team that wins titles and wins games, so it makes it even more exciting for me.” One former City man who is still at Turf Moor is Walker, who will wear the captain’s armband for Sunday’s Championship opener against West Ham in the absence of the injured Josh Cullen. The former Watford loanee admits he’s looking forward to learning from a player who has seen it and done it all at the top level. “Where I’m coming from, I’m with some of the best defenders in the world and it’s an important thing to have experienced players around you to learn from. Kyle is probably top of the top for that,” he said. “He’s played in the Premier League for 10-15 years, so it was definitely one of the reasons again to play alongside someone like that, because it’s only going to develop me.”
