Turkish Super Lig side Konyaspor have reportedly opened discussions with Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem over a potential transfer during the current summer transfer window.
Awaziem joined French club Nantes last summer to strengthen their defence, but despite his impressive individual performances, he was unable to prevent the Canaries from suffering relegation to Ligue 2.
The Nigerian international remained a key figure for the club last campaign, contributing at both ends of the pitch with one goal and two assists in 26 league appearances.
Following their relegation, Nantes are reportedly battling financial difficulties and are expected to sanction player sales this summer as they seek to balance their finances while rebuilding a squad capable of earning an immediate return to the French top flight.
According to Turkish journalist Resat Can Özbudak, Konyaspor have identified Awaziem as a priority defensive target and have already held talks with the Nigerian to assess his current situation and the possibility of completing a move before the close of the transfer window.
The 29-year-old is understood to be keen on remaining in top-flight football, making a move to the Turkish Super Lig an attractive option as preparations for the new season gather pace.
Should the transfer materialise, it would offer Awaziem the opportunity to continue competing at the highest level while providing Nantes with a much-needed transfer fee and easing their financial burden ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
