There were immediate Canaries complaints on the field but referee Tim Robinson and his assistant were unmoved and allowed the goal to stand. Clement said: “I expect that referees see things like what happened with this first goal because it's incredible that we can see that from the bench, from 50 yards away. “The players tell the referee but still the goal is allowed. For me, that's very disappointing. It's clearly with the arm that the player scores. I think the linesman had the best angle in the stadium to see that. “It's a game decisive moment, this one. “So VAR can help in these situations. But for me, this is a situation you don't need VAR. You need to see that with the four people that are managing the game. “I can understand that the referee maybe is not in the perfect angle. But the linesman needs to see that. It's so clear - the height of the ball and where it touches him.” Visitors Albion produced a brilliant defensive display, and goalkeeper Max O’Leary made a string of excellent saves to keep the fancied hosts at bay. Morrison was uninterested by claims about Heggebo’s opener. He said: “I haven’t seen it and I think over the course of the season you’ll get some vice versa. “And if it is - I don’t really care.” The Albion head coach celebrated triumphantly with 1,800 travelling fans at full-time after the perfect way to start the Championship campaign. He revealed afterwards that opening scorer Heggebo had missed training on Friday, also Albion’s travelling day, with a sickness bug after eating a “dodgy chicken wrap” away from the club. “Heggebo was sick on Thursday, he ate a dodgy wrap!” Morrison said. “He missed Friday and did not train with the sickness bug. It just shows about the group, how committed they are. I think they felt the intensity today.”
