Issue pinpointed for ex-Stoke City striker after latest Blackpool blow Blackpool have been dealt another blow - with Niall Ennis set for a spell on the sidelines. Blackpool were without striker Niall Ennis for their opening game of the new League One season. The Seasiders drew 1-1 with Wycombe Wanderers at Bloomfield Road, with new recruit Finley Munroe marking his debut with an equaliser to cancel out Fred Onyedinma’s early opener. Ennis, who had scored seven days prior in the Seasiders’ Carabao Cup first round meeting with Grimsby Town, has been ruled out for a period due to a hamstring injury. The forward has endured his fair share of frustrations since making the permanent move to the Fylde Coast from Stoke City last summer. An initial loan spell in Tangerine proved to be a success for the 27-year-old, as he built on the form he’d demonstrated previously with Plymouth Argyle in the third, but it hasn’t been smooth sailing since. After bagging three goals at the start of last season, a three-match ban followed by a lengthy spell out injured wiped out the first half of the 2025/26 campaign for Ennis, with the months after Christmas proving to be a challenge as well as he strived to return to full fitness. Providing an update on the striker’s latest blow, Blackpool head coach Ian Evatt said: “That’s a difficult one. Last Thursday, Niall felt some stiffness in what we class as muscle soreness in his hamstring. “He actually recovered and played great in the game at Grimsby, but there was an incident in the 80th minute where he had a cramp sensation. “Post-game, his strength test and everything was fine, so the indication wasn’t an injured hamstring, it was just a fatigued one, but that then didn’t settle. “We got it imaged, and there is some damage there, so he’ll be missing for a period.”
