Reims midfielder Mory Gbane is of interest to West Ham

West Ham are interested in signing Reims defensive midfielder Mory Gbane. The East Londoners have been monitoring his progress in France, setting the stage for potential negotiations. Gbane has quickly attracted the attention of top European scouts with a series of impressive displays. Standing at 1.88 metres, the 25-year-old midfielder offers a commanding physical presence suited to the demands of English football. During the 2025/26 campaign, he scored three goals in 1,783 minutes of action, combining his box-to-box energy with an impressive 87% pass accuracy as Reims narrowly missed out on a place in the promotion play-offs. Renowned for his strength and ball-recovery skills, Gbane’s metrics highlight him as a valuable defensive asset. Alongside West Ham’s strong interest, Scottish giants Celtic and Turkish side Trabzonspor have also entered the race, with both clubs actively monitoring the midfielder’s situation. Gbane joined Reims in a €5 million move from Gil Vicente in February 2025 and remains under contract until June 2029. Despite his long-term contract, the Reims hierarchy is not ruling out a permanent transfer for the Ivorian international ‘with many qualities’, provided a suitor submits an offer that meets their internal valuation. The Ligue 2 outfit have already sanctioned a high-profile departure for Ewen Jaouen to Newcastle. For West Ham, signing a dominant, front-footed anchor like Gbane would add much-needed depth to their midfield under Nuno Espirito Santos, especially after the departure of Mateus Fernandes and ongoing uncertainty over the fitness and future of Tomas Soucek.
