'That expensive striker' - Boskamp on why Genk's record signing Durosinmi cannot carry the team alone

Retired Netherlands international Johan Boskamp has warned Racing Genk that they cannot rely solely on Rafiu Durosinmi if they are to enjoy success in the new season. Durosinmi became Genk's most expensive signing in history this summer after joining from relegated Italian Serie A club Pisa in a deal worth €10.5 million. The Nigeria international enjoyed a dream start to life at the Limburg club, scoring 39 minutes into their season opener against Zulte Waregem last weekend. However, his goal ultimately counted for little as Genk went on to suffer a 2-1 defeat. Serxho Ujka scored the winner for Zulte Waregem after being set up by Nigerian attacker Anosike Ementa. Before his move to Pisa, Durosinmi had already shown his ability to score and create goals during his time in the Czech Republic, registering 61 goal contributions — 45 goals and 16 assists — in 125 appearances for Karviná and Viktoria Plzeň combined. Boskamp believes Durosinmi's success at Genk will largely depend on the quality of support around him. "They did bring in that expensive striker, of course. But if you don't surround the boy well, you can't expect him to tear everything apart," he told Het Belang Van Limburg via Voetbal Primeur. Durosinmi was also part of the Super Eagles squad that retained the Unity Cup in May. He came off the bench against Zimbabwe before making his full debut against Jamaica. Ifeanyi Emmanuel
