Mitchy Ntelo enjoys dream Aberdeen debut as they avenge Dundee loss and breathe fire into cup bid - 5 talking points The Dons made amends for their 2-0 loss at Dens Park last weekend to reach the last eight of the Premier Sports Cup Stephen Robinson watched his Aberdeen side take their revenge on Dundee and clinically book their place in the quarter-finals of the Premier Sports Cup. The Dons saw off the Dark Blues at Pittodrie thanks to a Kevin Nisbet double and a debut strike from Mitcy Ntelo. They now go into tomorrow’s draw for the last eight full of confidence. It was a convincing win and was in complete contrast to their defeat to Dundee in the league the previous Saturday. The win also silenced the critics who turned on Robinson after just one defeat, despite six wins in their other games. Robinson won this tournament with St Mirren last year and will want to keep a hold of it as Aberdeen manager There was to be no repeat of Dundee’s best performance for Steven Pressley. He was left counting the cost of this defeat - which has also left him fearing captain Simon Murray could be out long-term. Olusanya causes havoc There were no surprises to see Steven Pressley stick with the same team that started last time out. The home team was hurting from their last encounter and keen to make up for it, especially on home soil. Afeez Aremu fired in a long-range shot that Owen Goodman held. Toyosi Olusanya then became a central figure of Aberdeen’s attacking intent. He had a shot from a tight angle blocked by Goodman. The Aberdeen striker then caught Owen Bevan on the ball. He won possession and found Kevin Nisbet, who played it over the top for Olusanya to run clear. He charged into the box and threw himself to the ground beside (O.) Bevan. It was never a penalty and ref Nick Walsh didn’t even entertain his appeal. Bevan didn’t heed that warning. Olusanya caught him on the ball again and raced clear. This time Goodman charged off his line to block. The busy keeper also had to tip over a header from Nesta Guinness-Walker. Dee rocked by Murray injury Dundee captain Simon Murray had a great chance to put his team ahead. Charlie Reilly put in a ball over the top that Dan Happe misjudged. Murray got in behind but instead of pulling the trigger he delayed, allowing Happe to get back and rescue the situation. If that was a disappointment for Murray, even worse was to follow. He was left crumpled on a heap when his knee gave way as he took a step back. The Dundee medical team came on and immediately called for a stretcher. They knew it was serious and there was no way of him continuing. It looks serious and potentially long-term He was stretchered off and replaced by Fin Robertson. Dundee are already without Ash Hay and will now need to double their efforts to sign a striker or two. Joe Bevan on the frontline There was even more Dundee concern when Joe Bevan went down with a head knock. It was accidental as Nesta Guinness-Walker raced away from him. Thankfully, the winger was able to resume after treatment. He had been a central figure in last week’s win and he had the chance to make a difference again two minutes before the interval. Ryan Astley put him clear but Muller came out to narrow the angle and to make a fine block. Dundee’s Joe Westley then headed wide, while Aremu forced Goodman into another stop at the end of stoppage time in the first-period. Nisbet leads by example again Joe Bevan went down again with a head knock. He had already got up when the referee signalled for the physios to come on, so he had to go off for a minute. That proved costly as Aberdeen took the lead in the 51st minute. Tony Yogane’s cross was headed down by Olusanya to Chris Cadden. He fired in a shot that Nisbet tried to flick on, but it was blocked. It fell to Olusanya, and although his shot was blocked by Goodman's legs, Nisbet clipped home the rebound. Mitchy magic Olusanya produced a good spin to get away from his marker. Chris Cadden made a good decoy run out wide. It allowed Olusanya to run on and pick out Ntelo inside the box. He turned and cracked a shot high past Goodman in the 57th minute. Not a bad first impression from the Belgian signed from Yverdon Sports last Saturday. If that had looked a mountain too high for Dundee to climb then Aberdeen put them out of sight. Ntelo played his part. Tony Yogane put in a low cross, which the striker dummied for the on-running Nisbet to fire high past Goodman. That was game over.
