I just knew it would turn out like it has. Yesterday, in the following article – deal-or-no-deal – I queried just what was going on with regards to the future of our young defender, Christ Makosso. Because, as I pointed out in the article, it had been an age, almost an eternity, since the inference that the defender, born in the DR Congo, had been linked with a move to the French La Ligue 1 side, Auxerre, or to give them their full name, Association de la Jeunesse Auxerroise, who play at the wonderfully named, Stade de l’Abbé-Deschamps. Well, less than an hour after I published the referenced article, the French club announced that Christ Makosso had sealed the move, with a fee, in the region of, £2,000,000 being agreed. Perhaps the bank loan took an age or they managed to find those last few Euro’s down the back of a arity of sofa’s to clinch the deal, who knows! However, digging a little deeper this morning it appears that Auxerre may well have jumped the gun after, quite possibly, agreeing a mutually agreeable release time for the declaration of the deal with Luton Town Football Club. Also, while the fee is quoted as being circa £2,000,000, the release from the Hatters carries that familiar term – undisclosed fee. But if Auxerre are happy to pay the £2,000,000 quoted for the 22-year-old defender then, financially, it represents a good deal for Luton Town Football Club as it would represent a profit clearly exceeding the fee he was attained for. Sadly, it would seem we have lost another young player who could, I still believe, become a decent centre back, but such is life. But what are your views on the deal, good or bad?
