An injury to Alistair Johnston and transfer speculation over Arne Engels forced two changes. Kieran Tierney and Yang Hyun-jun drop onto the bench. Colby Donovan comes in at right-back with Liam Scales at left-back. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain gets his first competitive minutes of the season with Sebastian Tounketi replacing Yang on the wing. Midweek signings Mika Baur and Haissem Hassan are named among the substitutes. Celtic lost at Tannadice in March but responded by winning their nine remaining matches to claim the double. CELTIC FACE TESTING TANNADICE CUP TIE That form has continued into the 26/7 season with wins over Dundee and Kilmarnock United had a bit of a struggle through their League Cup group matches which included a defeat away to Montrose. As a non-seeded qualifier they drew Celtic but started their SPFL campaign with a credible 1-1 draw against Derek McInnes’ side. Last Sunday it was back to earth with a 4-0 defeat at Tynecastle on the back of Hearts losing 6-1 to Benfica. Despite twice beating Celtic at Tannadice Jim Goodwin’s side missed out on a place in the top six. Settling for the ‘best of the rest’ with a seventh place finish. Last season Martin O’Neill led Celtic to a semi-final win in the League Cup but watched from afar as the final was lost to St Mirren. Defeat number four for Wilfried Nancy was three days later at Tannadice as the alarm bells rang out. By January 10 O’Neill was back as interim manager, leading Celtic to a 4-0 defeat in his ‘first’ game back. Over the last decade the League Cup has become a favoured trophy for Celtic. The stakes are raised considerably in midweek when Celtic enter the Champions League. Matches against LASK on August 19 and 25 will go a long way towards shaping the season.
