The Daily Record reports that Niko Sigur is pushing for a move to Celtic amid interest from the Hoops.
Sigur is understood by CeltsAreHere to be valued at around £3million.
Celtic chiefs are reportedly yet to hold formal talks over Sigur, but the Canada international is believed to be the top target to replace Arne Engels.
However, after already featuring for Hajduk Split in European qualifiers this season, Sigur would not be available for Celtic’s Champions League play-off against LASK.
The holding midfielder is well known to Celtic right-back Alistair Johnston from the Canadian national team set-up, with both having featured at this summer’s World Cup.
That connection could prove useful in Celtic’s attempts to bring Sigur to Glasgow, with Johnston already a firm favourite at Parkhead.
Champions League football is also reportedly one of the driving factors behind Sigur’s willingness to join Celtic.
Sigur recently starred for Hajduk Split over two legs against Žalgiris in a 9-2 aggregate win in the Conference League third qualifying round, which rules him out of Celtic’s upcoming play-off against LASK.
Arne Engels, meanwhile, is in London ahead of his move to West Ham and looks set to be announced within the next 48 hours.
The deal has progressed quickly, with Engels understood to have passed his medical and a fee in the region of £22million already agreed between the clubs.
