Ex-Huddersfield Town player of the year signs for Terriers' League One rival The 21-year-old has signed for Luton Town Former Huddersfield Town player of the year Callum Marshall has joined Luton Town from West Ham United. The 21-year-old has signed for the Terriers’ League One rivals for an undisclosed fee, with the forward penning a “long-term contract” with his new side. Marshall spent the 2024/25 campaign on loan with Town, with the striker netting ten goals and providing four assists across 46 appearances for the Terriers, as the attacker was named Hargreaves Memorial Player of the Year, as well as picking up the Blue & White Members Club Player of the Year award. The forward went on to spend the second half of last term on loan at 2. Bundesliga outfit VfL Bochum, where he netted two goals in 16 appearances. Marshall has now departed the Hammers following a four-and-a-half year spell, where he featured three times for the first team. The striker now joins a side who finished seventh in League One last season, two places and seven points ahead of the Terriers. Upon sealing his permanent switch, Marshall told his new club’s website: “It feels great to get the deal done. I think that Luton are heading in the right direction and all the meetings I’ve had with Jack (Wilshere, manager) and the coaching staff, they’ve really made me feel wanted and I like what I’ve been told. “I played against him when he was Arsenal 18s coach and that was one of the big drawing points to Luton as well, the fact that Jack’s here. I think he should be good for my career, and he’s a manager I want to work under, so hopefully it goes well this season and we all get what we want. “I want to be playing regularly, feeling part of something as a team, like we’re going somewhere. So I think this is a great next step for my career and hopefully I can push on.” “People around me, like my agent and my dad – people I would speak to for advice – they say ‘you need to belong somewhere’,” the new signing added. “Whenever you are a loan player, it’s difficult because you’re not their player. I’m used to going somewhere as a visitor for a year. “So coming here permanently, this is my home now and hopefully I can get settled off the pitch as well as on it.” Discussing his new recruit, Wilshere added: “From the first moment I met Callum I knew how hungry he was for success. “Naturally, a lot of other clubs were in for him, so we’re pleased that he’s chosen us and that we’re a club that’s matching his ambition and vice versa. “Callum’s someone that suits us, not just in terms of quality but also his mentality. He’s a bit old school in that way. He wants to get stuck in and help the team and set off the pressing – and I think he’ll take to having fans close to the pitch at Kenilworth Road. “When he was in West Ham’s under-18s he hurt me a lot! They probably had the best youth team in the country and went on to lift the FA Youth Cup that year. “When you come across a number nine in youth football that stands out like he did, you keep your eye on them and now, after a couple of loans, he comes with plenty of experience. “He’s had a look round Kenilworth Road and loved it. I was the same as a player, it’s really important to understand your environment. Now he’s really feeling it and we’re looking forward to seeing him out there in a Luton shirt.”
