Huddersfield Town FC Accu Stadium plans for 141-bedroom hotel
Massive plans for Huddersfield Town could be underway with a 141-bedroom hotel addition.
A planning application has been officially submitted for the expansion of the Accu Stadium, which will include the development of a 141-room Hilton Garden Inn hotel, subject to planning permission.
Adjoined to the Terriers Together North Stand, the proposed hotel would redevelop what was formerly offices and facilities for Kirklees Active Leisure, bringing 141 “generous” new hotel rooms to the area, including the remodelling of existing premium spaces and 14 match-day boxes.
The current designs feature a 100-seat restaurant and bar, an impressive glass atrium and gym facilities for guests.
Incorporating the existing Huddersfield Town within the space, the Club say they have worked closely with architects to create multipurpose public spaces across the ground floor that can be utilised on match days in HD1, giving supporters a greater depth of options and experience at home.
Current construction logistics would see the Terriers Together North Stand closed for one full season in 2027/28, while access to the remainder of the stadium, turnstiles and concourses would remain unaffected.
Speaking on behalf of the club, Huddersfield Town Owner and Chairman Kevin Nagle, explained the application had been a “culmination of months of hard work behind the scenes”.
Mr Nagle said: “I am incredibly excited to announce that we have officially submitted the planning application for our hotel development at the Accu Stadium.
“…We have been working closely with experts to focus on what would benefit not only Huddersfield Town the most, but the town of Huddersfield as well.”
The announcement follows the club’s acquisition of the full 53-acre site surrounding its home in HD1 last year.
Mr Nagle said: “This marks the true start of our first stage of development and initial steps toward becoming a real year-round destination and venue, breathing new life and possibilities into the Club and our stadium…This is a massive next step.”
Huddersfield Town supporters have been assured they will be kept updated on the progress of their proposed hotel development via official Club channels across their website and social media.
Any supporters who may be impacted will be contacted in due course once timelines are confirmed.
