Huddersfield Town have today submitted a planning application for a new 141-bedroomed hotel at the Accu Stadium. The hotel will be built onto the back of the existing Terriers Together North Stand, which was originally designed to have bedrooms facing the pitch. The rooms have been used as hospitality boxes and meeting spaces and will be re-modelled. It’s not clear at this stage whether the new hotel will have bedrooms where guests can wake up to a view of the pitch. Town have teamed up with Hilton Hotels to create a Hilton Garden Inn. The new hotel will see the former swimming pool and gym go, along with offices previously used by Kirklees Active Leisure. All that will remain of the facilities behind the North Stand is the new H Town bar. The current designs feature a 100-seat restaurant and bar, an impressive glass atrium and gym facilities for guests. Incorporating the existing H Town within the space, the club has worked closely with architects to create multi-purpose public spaces across the ground floor that can be utilised on match days. Town previously secured planning permission back in 2021 for a hotel, which was also set to be a Hilton Garden Inn. That hotel was to have been built over the river bridge on a playground and part of the Town Avenue car park. The Hilton Garden Inn brand is synonymous with sporting venues, notably Silverstone. Town say, subject to planning permission from Kirklees Council, the North Stand will be closed for one full season in 2027-28. Access to the remainder of the stadium would be unaffected. Town have been drawing up plans for the whole 53-acre stadium footprint and the hotel is the first step in a wider regeneration scheme. Town owner and chairman Kevin Nagle said: “I am incredibly excited to announce that we have officially submitted the planning application for our hotel development at the Accu Stadium. “This is the culmination of months of hard work behind the scenes. We have been working closely with experts to focus on what would benefit not only Huddersfield Town the most, but the town of Huddersfield as well. “We have teamed up with Hilton Hotels to bring the Hilton Garden Inn brand, as they share our same vision that goes far beyond the building itself. “Having acquired the full 53-acre site surrounding our home in HD1 last year, this marks the true start of our first stage of development and initial steps toward becoming a real year-round destination and venue, breathing new life and possibilities into the club and our stadium. “I have stated from the first time I stepped into Huddersfield just over three years ago that the potential is here. “I fell in love with the place from day one. And with the help of the team we’ve assembled, we are fully focused on turning that potential into a reality for all to benefit from. “This is a massive next step.”
