Leicester City boss Russell Martin says his side will be better for their frustrating League One opener after being held to a 1-1 draw at Notts County. The Foxes controlled most of the game at Meadow Lane, but were vulnerable at the start of both halves. Jayden Joseph's first goal for the club had put them ahead after 62 minutes, but Conor Grant rescued a point for County inside the final 10 minutes. City had 69% of possession in Nottingham and created a number of decent opportunities. However, they also gifted their opponents big chances with several loose passes and some poor defending. Martin admitted post-match he believes his team will be better for the draw, but highlighted the importance of being careful on the ball. “So much to work on, so much to like as well," he said. "Loads of learning and we’ll be better for it. Love the energy and aggression in the team. We regained the ball so many times and I loved the fight they showed, their togetherness, all of that is great. "We have to defend our goal way too much later on in the game. The first half I loved the amount of control we had, we were patient, we started creating gaps and we had to work hard for it because we were playing against a really well-organised team. "Then in the second half, we had to weather the storm again because they came out with some energy and then when we did, we gained control, scored an amazing team goal that encapsulates everything we’ve been working on. "A bit of anxiety crept in, the atmosphere changed in the stadium and I think that’s the biggest learning for us, if we don’t look after each other with the ball, like we didn’t in the last 20 minutes, the game becomes like that and it doesn’t suit us really. That’s the only frustration." The Leicester boss also said his side dropped their intensity levels and quality on the ball after Joseph's goal, which allowed County to get back into the contest. He added: "We had a couple of moments that make us a bit anxious and we don’t play with anywhere near enough intensity and detail with the ball in our half, and it keeps coming back and then we did get there, we put it off the pitch too easily, we turned it over way too easily, not even trying to score, but with like loose passes. "That’s only a bit of tension, maybe a bit of fatigue early on, but we’ll be so much better for it. I feel really enthused inside because this week’s going to be so clear, the learning and we’ll only improve from it.”
