Crawley Town are going to Watford to 'get a result', says former Bromley star Some people might see Crawley Town’s trip to Championship side Watford in the Carabao Cup first round on Saturday as a free hit – but Jude Arthurs certainly doesn’t think so. The League Two title-winning midfielder joined Reds in the summer and was in the starting XI ion their first competitive match of the season where they beat Scott Lindsey’s York City 2-0 to set up the tie with the Hornets at Vicarage Road. Colin Kazim-Richards’ side will go there as underdogs and many will expect a home win. But after their performance at the LNER Community Stadium on Monday, Reds will go into the game with confidence and momentum. "I think from mentality from outside, you probably see it as a free hit, but definitely not from the mentality on the inside,” said Arthurs. “We're going there definitely to put performance on and get a result. But putting a good performance in on Monday has obviously put us in good stead walking into this game as well. "We'll be geared up and ready to go.” A trip to the former Premier League side is just reward for what they did at York and Arthurs is looking forward to the experience. “Obviously, we can't wait to get there,” said the 24-year-old. “It was a big win on Monday and it sets us up nicely going into this game and go there with a game plan and ready to win. "Fans travelled in numbers as well, which was good so we will go there and hopefully get a result.” With one competitive game under their belt and Watford only having, Reds could have a slight edge going into the game. Arthurs said: “We've kind of taken pre-season as competitive games anyway and there's not really friendlies in football anyway, so we're kind of already on a roll but I think [the fact we have played a competitive game] it'll put us in good stead.”
