Junior Tchamadeu and Ato Ampah are back in training but Lamine Cisse is in the treatment room as Stoke City start the Championship season with a home match against Swansea (3pm). Right-back Tchamadeu and winger Ampah have missed the bulk of pre-season but are now back in training and hoping to come into contention for selection as soon as possible.
Cisse has been left out of the squad this afternoon after picking up a knock in training. The 23-year-old forward is expected to be back fit in time to be involved away at Southampton next weekend. His absence, plus Milan Smit's loan departure to Darmstadt, has seen Mark Robins call upon 18-year-old forward Tyler Martin among the substitutes.
Robins has handed three players league debuts today. Luke Graham, Svante Ingelsson and Ethan Galbraith all started a 2-0 Carabao Cup win over Oldham last weekend. Tomas Rigo comes into the team, which will be captained by Viktor Johansson.
Robins said in his programme notes: "We have talented players in the group and, while we are always looking to evolve the squad to be as strong as we can be, we had into the campaign in a stronger position than we were 12 months ago."
