Blackpool FC Community Trust column: Summer sessions available for adults looking to become more active
Blackpool residents are being encouraged to make the most of exercise sessions this summer.
Blackpool FC Community Trust is encouraging adults across Blackpool and the Fylde coast to make the most of the summer by taking part in its wide range of free and low-cost health, wellbeing and physical activity sessions.
With activities taking place throughout the week, the Trust offers something for all ages, abilities and fitness levels, whether people are looking to improve their physical health, support their mental wellbeing, lose weight or simply meet new people.
One of the Trust’s most popular wellbeing programmes is Active Minds, which uses the power of football to improve mental health and reduce social isolation.
Open to anyone aged 18 and over, the sessions combine football with dedicated social time, allowing participants to exercise, build friendships and take time away from the pressures of everyday life.
Sessions take place four evenings a week across Blackpool and cost just £3.
For those looking to improve their overall fitness, Get FIT with BFCCT offers an affordable timetable of group exercise classes at Bloomfield Road.
The programme includes everything from Box Fit, Circuits and Dance Fit to Pilates, Strength and Stretch and Core classes, providing accessible options for beginners and regular exercisers alike.
Alongside helping participants become more active, the sessions create a welcoming community where people can stay motivated and support one another.
Walking Football offers a slower-paced version of the game for adults aged 50 and over, helping participants to stay active while enjoying the social side of football.
Every session is followed by a wellbeing hub, where players can enjoy a brew and chat with team-mates.
Masters Football provides a similar opportunity for men and women aged 35 and over, who want to continue playing in a slightly slower-paced five-a-side format.

Alternatively, Aspire 5s gives players the chance to compete in organised weekly five-a-side leagues at Aspire Sports Hub.
For men looking to lose weight and improve their health, the Trust also hosts a MAN v FAT Football club.
Combining weekly football matches with expert weight-loss support and coaching, the programme has helped thousands of men across the country become fitter, healthier and more confident.
Most sessions cost between £3 and £4, making them an affordable way for adults to stay active throughout the summer.
