- - Sport - Football - Everton FC Everton 1 Lille 1 - All the reaction as Blues denied victory after Iliman Ndiaye penalty Live coverage as Everton take on Lille at Hill Dickinson Stadium in their final pre-season friendly of the summer Welcome to our live coverage as Everton take on Lille in their final friendly of the summer. The Blues took a 41st-minute lead thanks to a penalty from the excellent Iliman Ndiaye and that was the way it stayed until virtually the last kick of the game when Hakon Haraldsson volleyed the French side level. While disappointed not to win their last warm-up match, there were still plenty of positives for Everton to take ahead of the Premier League opener. Key Events Like with every other pre-season friendly this summer, there won't be an opportunity to speak to David Moyes after the match. While Everton will be disappointed to have not won that game, there were still a lot of things to be encouraged about. Iliman Ndiaye and Tyler Dibling carried a real threat in the first half. Ndiaye will certaintly start, if fit, against Crystal Palace next weekend, but has Dibling done enough to edge out Tyrique George? Brennan Johnson showed why he should be good for goals, too, when he came on. He could quite easily have bagged a brace. It doesn't appear James Garner or Christian Norgaard will be ready for the Premier League opener, so Hayden Hackney and Harrison Armstrong showed again they are forming a good base in midfield. There was also a better showing from Vitalii Mykolenko at left-back and with the Blues seemingly no closer to signing a right-back, Merlin Rohl showed once more he is not out of place there. Jordan Pickford 7 Returning from his record-breaking exploits at the World Cup, England’s number one was penalised for holding onto the ball for too long but was otherwise flawless, picking out Thierno Barry for a chance with a long punt upfield and denying Basar Onal with a low hand when the Lille player tried to go around him. Merlin Rohl 7 With Everton still not having signed a new right-back, Rohl, one of the better performers throughout pre-season, at least offers more going forward than centre-back Jake O’Brien in the role and as well as dovetailing well with Tyler Dibling, he forced a smart stop from Ozer with a low left-foot drive before moving into central midfield after the raft of changes. Vitalii Mykolenko 7 Has looked somewhat sluggish in recent weeks but appeared more solid here, keeping tabs on Kylian Mbappe’s teenage brother Ethan and played the reaching pass to Dewsbury-Hall that won the penalty. James Tarkowski 6 Typically strong leadership at the back, he looks a more accomplished figure when Jarrad Branthwaite is alongside him, he bundled the ball out for a corner when under pressure from Soriba Diaoune with Lille wanting a penalty for handball. READ CHRIS BEESLEY'S PLAYER RATINGS IN FULL BY CLICKING HERE Everton build one final attack and it is a good team move that involves most of the side. Patterson's cross is the climax and Rohl is winding up a volley only for the ball to be taken from his toes by Bouaddi. Lille counter and score amid a mess in the Blues box. Haraldsson with the finish. That is the last piece of action from the game - one that Everton played well in. Blues deserved to win that and should not let the late leveller take away from that. Hayden Hackney named man of the match by those inside the stadium. Not quite enough time for Foster and Graham to get on the pitch, I don't think. The pair had been warming up but now sit down. George's pass to Rohl is cut out on the edge of the Lille box and the visitors come forward quickly. Patterson has the ball played throiugh his legs and Lille build a promising attack only for the shot at the end to bounce safely through to Travers via a deflection. Lille again come down the Blues' right but Johnson steals the ball, only to run into trouble. That's cool from Aznou as he chests a wild cross down for Travers to collect. Patterson has the ball stolen from him and it creates a great chance for Edjouma coming in from the right only for him to be denied by a solid Keane block. The centre back did well there. George is on the left and finishing this game really strongly - he and Aznou both look good going forward. How has Johnson not connected? Everton break Lille's spell and George feeds the overlapping Aznou. Aznou's cross is perfect and Johnson gets ahead of his man but does not connect. Would like to see a replay to see if he was fouled by the man on his back. A nice move that. Oh, a good save from Travers at the othr end as Andre cuts onto his right and shoots inside the box. Everton make a mess of defending the corner but Travers makes a big save on the ground to block from Sahraoui. Verdonk fires over after Keane blocks a cross/shot as Lille find a spell of possession. Can they find an equaliser? A lot of the play is going through Bouaddi now but Hackney mops up in the box to end the latest foray forward. Lille come again and Aznou does well to break up play, this time on the left. Diaoune off for Sahraoui for Lille. Here we go - Aznou and Alcaraz are on for Mykolenko and Dewsbury-Hall. Wow, so close to a second - from an unexpected source as Ribeiro lobs Ozer from 40 yards and wathes, relieved, as it spins just wide of the post. Ozer claims the corner, this time. Aznou and Alcaraz coming on for the Blues. Hello everyone, Joe back with you now to see this game through to the end. Mykolenko does well to stop Santos after he gets past George too early. He feeds George, who shows his own skill to carry the ball forward before finding Johnson in space on the right. Johnson goes hard and a good save from Ozer is required to deny him a dream introduction. Lille escape the first corner and are lucky from the second - a short routine ends with an excellent Dewsbury-Hall cross that is unconvingly cleared behind. Keane heads well wide from the third corner in quick succession. Of course the real stuff doesn't get underway until next weekend, and you should never get carried away, but that was a really pleasing outing from Tyler Dibling. He was direct, managed to force Ozer into a couple of good saves and tried to get involved as much as he could. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall tries to pick out debutant Brennan Johnson with a diagonal pass from the left. The Wales international shows his pace to get on the ball but can't control it from a central position. If he had done, the former Crystal Palace man would have had a clear run on goal. An early test for the new-look Everton side as Diaoune blazes over. The Blues must hope they don't lose their way after so many changes in one go. Pickford replaced by Travers; Armstrong by Patterson; Tarkowski by O'Brien; Branthwaite by Keane; Johnson for Dibling; Ndiaye by George; Barry by Beto. Seven substitutions on the way for Everton! Lille want a penalty one minute, then Everton want one the next. Some excellent play from Harrison Armstrong and Iliman Ndiaye eventually sees Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall go down inside the box. But despite his appeals, referee Peter Bankes gave a corner instead, but it looked like a penalty to me. Lille making a triple change, you do wonder how long David Moyes will leave it before turning to his bench. Harrison Amstrong hopefully isn't letting that miss get to him. The teenage Everton home-grown hero does well to win a free-kick when being wrestled to the turf by Bouaddi. Everton captain James Tarkowski is forced into a challenge by the byline to deny Diaoune. Then, down the other end, Dewsbury-Hall goes down again but this time it's no penalty. Mbappe works a Lille corner which goes to Tiago Santos and his effort flies over the bar. That is an absolute sitter from Harrison Armstrong. Barry picked him out, the flag did not go up for offside and he had (seemingly too much) time and space to pick his spot in a central position in the area with nobody near him and just the keeper to beat but shanked his shot high and wide. Ndiaye tries an early crossfield pass to Dibling, a ploy that worked well in the first half but this time the right winger can't prevent the ball from going out for a Lille throw-in. Harrison Armstrong gets us back underway with Everton attacking the South Stand in the second half. Another substitution for Lille at the start of the second half as Ayyoub Bouaddi comes on for Nabil Bentaleb. Jordan Pickford 7 Returning from his record-breaking exploits at the World Cup, England’s number one was penalised for holding onto the ball for too long but has otherwise been flawless, picking out Barry for a chance with a long punt upfield and denying Basar Onal with a low hand when the Lille player tried to go around him. Merlin Rohl 7 With Everton still not having signed a new right-back, Rohl, one of Everton’s better performers throughout pre-season, at least offers more going forward than centre-back Jake O’Brien in the role and as well as dovetailing well with Dibling, he forced a smart stop from Ozer with a low left-foot drive. Vitalii Mykolenko 7 Has looked somewhat sluggish in recent weeks but appears more solid here so far, keeping tabs on Kylian Mbappe’s teenage brother Ethan and played the reaching pass to Dewsbury-Hall that won the penalty. James Tarkowski 6 Typically strong leadership at the back, he looks a more accomplished figure when Branthwaite is alongside him. Jarrad Branthwaite 7 Played a pinpoint through-ball to Thierno Barry in the first couple of minutes that the striker should have done better with and brings an added dimension striding out from defence. Harrison Armstrong 7 Capping a promising pre-season of many minutes with another bright display full of smart runs and neat passes. Hayden Hackney 6 Given an appreciative pre-match roar from the home fans ahead of his Hill Dickinson Stadium debut, he’s still finding his feet in his new surroundings but looks tidy on the ball. Tyler Dibling 7 Some encouraging play down the right wing, he’s combined well with Merlin Rohl and Harrison Armstrong with a few mazy dribbles and was unfortunate to be denied a first goal when picked out by Ndiaye only for Berke Ozer to tip his effort over the bar. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall 7 Some determined runs forward, he has been a lively figure in the engine room trying to get Everton up the pitch, winning the penalty after being bundled over by Nathan Ngoy. Iliman Ndiaye 8 Back on the left wing where he spent most of his first season with the Blues, the Senegal star has produced a clutch of majestic moments, including a touch of class to pick out Dibling for his big chance and calmly converted the penalty, rolling the ball to Ozer’s left. Thierno Barry 6 Has found himself on the end of a few openings, fashioned by the likes of Branthwaite and Pickford, but while he appears to be more of a focal point, nothing has quite dropped for him as of yet. Tarkowski strides across halfway to win the ball and feed Dewsbury-Hall. His cross for Barry is cleared, though. Barry concedes a foul on halfway while trying to win a long ball from Pickford. Lille have the ball to end the half, but are unable to do anything with it and Everton are applauded off at the break. Lille have found some life and it is Bentaleb again, who this time has Pickford scrambling across goal at the threat of a 30 yard strike that looks destined for the top corner but flies just wide. Two minutes to be added on.
