Bailey Peacock-Farrell is excited for the start of the new season - and states the Blackpool squad are feeling a real boost heading into the opening weekend. The 2026/27 campaign starts with the first round of the Carabao Cup, with the Seasiders taking on Grimsby Town at Blundell Park. Peacock-Farrell is 12 months into life at Bloomfield Road, having initially made the move to the Fylde Coast on loan from Birmingham City 12 months ago. Following the mutual termination of his contract at St. Andrews in January, the goalkeeper penned a short-term deal with Ian Evatt’s side until the end of June, before extending his stay for a further 12 months. The 29-year-old admits it’s been good to have his future sorted early in the summer, and to have a full pre-season under his belt. “I’ve really enjoyed it,” he said. “It’s just really nice to be back and to have my future secured. Click here Blackpool are hopeful of picking up from where they left off at the end of last term, after picking up 22 points from their final nine games. While their summer preparations have been hindered by several minor injuries, Peacock-Farrell states the momentum at Squires Gate hasn’t been hindered. “We’re arriving into the cup game and then the first league game with a lot of clarity,” he added. “No pre-season goes according to plan or is perfect in terms of bodies and minutes. As a collective we know where we are and know what we stand for. We’re looking forward to it. “The gaffer (Ian Evatt) might’ve alluded to it, but a lot of the bodies are back now or back within the next couple of days. “That’s a real boost mentally to know you’ve got a full squad going into that first game.”
