Blackpool 0-1 Port Vale: Seasiders' final friendly ends in Bloomfield Road defeat Blackpool rounded off their pre-season schedule with a 1-0 loss to Port Vale at Bloomfield Road. Blackpool were defeated 1-0 by Port Vale in their final pre-season friendly of the summer. Dale Taylor had the pick of the chances for the Seasiders, but was unable to convert, while the visitors were kept quiet on the whole until Jasper Moon’s late winner. Ian Evatt’s side were still without several players for the warm-up fixture, and will be hoping for rejuvenated numbers for their EFL Cup first round tie away to Grimsby Town next Saturday. An inventive touch in the box from Taylor created the first half chance of the game, with Lewis Montsma doing well to stay alert to block the eventual attempted shot. The Port Vale defence continued to stick with the striker - who saw Cameron Humphreys quickly close him down to stop his next effort from getting through to Jackson Smith. Some silky play from Hayden Coulson in midfield opened up the next chance for Taylor. On this occasion, the Northern Ireland international found himself through one on one, but couldn’t find a way past the visiting keeper. The ex-Middlesbrough man was able to open up another chance for the forward on the other side of the half hour mark, with the final outcome proving the same. Josh Bowler also had a sight of goal, but pulled his shot just wide of the front post after cutting in from his right wing-back role. Following the restart, George Hall passed up a huge chance for Vale, with an effort in the box going well wide of the target. Down the other end, another opportunity fell Taylor’s way, but once again it wasn’t to be, as a slight deflection took the weak shot just wide. Karoy Anderson was able to test substitute keeper Mason Terry on the next Seasiders attack, with a shot from the edge of the box being pushed away. Kylian Kouassi also came close heading into the closing stages, but couldn’t find the crucial touch to convert a chance in the area. Moon made no mistake with his chance in the Blackpool box - powering home a header past Bailey Peacock-Farrell to give the League Two side a victory.
