Hull City have been linked with a move for Cagliari’s Sebastiano Esposito and they are now keen on another Italian forward.
The player in question is Sassuolo’s Andrea Pinamonti, who was once one of the best youngsters in the Italian game.
Now 27, Pinamonti scored nine times in Serie A last season, adding four assists. This came after he spent a loan at Genoa in the 2024/25 campaign, doing reliably well by scoring ten times.
During a spell at Empoli, he managed to find the net 13 times in a team which wasn’t always attack-minded in the Italian top-flight.
SportWitness have previously looked at Premier League interest in the forward. West Ham made contact for his signature but never made major progress in a deal.
Hull City have now stepped forward for Pinamonti.
Initial offer made
Today’s ModenaSportiva reports the 27-year-old wants to depart Sassuolo this summer.
He has refused to renew his contract with the Neroverdi, with his current deal running out in 2027. Sassuolo haven’t even attempted a renewal for a while, as they know about the player’s intentions.
This has led to Hull City making a formal offer for Pinamonti. While the amount on offer is unknown, the bid was ‘politely rejected’ by Sassuolo.
Their current demand stands at €15m. They know the valuation is too high but they are sticking to it, regardless.
The outlet believe Pinamonti could be interested in joining Hull City. He is desperate to seek an exit, even if Sassuolo finished at a solid 11th spot in Serie A last season. Alberto Aquilani’s side also want to put an end to the drama.

Our take: Tigers should keep pushing
There is every chance Pinamonti becomes a better option for Hull City than Esposito. The former has proved himself regularly in the top-flight and despite ups and downs, he remains a reliable striker.
Esposito is younger and is yet to consistently make a mark in Serie A.
As a result, Hull City should continue to keep tabs on Pinamonti. Sassuolo’s stance on his exit could loosen and they should soon accept lower bids than €15m.
