'I'm not too sure why' - Ipswich Town defender Jacob Greaves' admission over Hull City boos Ipswich Town defender Jacob Greaves had discussed the prospect of visiting his former club Hull City in October Ipswich Town defender Jacob Greaves is not sure why he has been booed by fans of his former club Hull City - but is relishing a return to East Yorkshire nonetheless. A product of the Hull academy, Greaves made 177 appearances for the Tigers at senior level before departing for Ipswich in 2024. He has since racked up 53 appearances for the Tractor Boys, experiencing relegation from the Premier League and an immediate promotion back to the top flight. Greaves looks set to face his former employers again next term, as Hull followed Ipswich to the promised land by winning the Championship play-offs. Ipswich are due to visit the MKM Stadium on October 31. Jacob Greaves looking ahead to Hull City return As reported by TWTD, Greaves joked: “Hopefully I don’t get booed again. It was twice I got booed, I'm not too sure why, but oh well. I’m looking forward to going there, I’ve obviously got family there. “I went to the play-offs as well and had a day out which was good. There’s a big turnaround of players, there’s only Regan [Slater], Lewie Coyle and [Ryan] Giles that I know. “It was good to see them get the rewards that they deserved for the season. To go back there will be fun and hopefully we can win there when we go.” Jacob Greaves’ time at Hull City Sections of the Hull fanbase may still feel aggrieved by the fact Greaves sought pastures new, but the centre-back’s exploits in the club’s colours cannot be brushed under the carpet. He matured into a rock at the back and in his final campaign, won the clubs’s Player of the Year Award and secured a place in the Championship Team of the Season. After sealing a move to Ipswich, he said: “As soon as I heard about the interest, I was keen to get the move over the line. Now that it’s done I am really happy. “I’m excited to have the opportunity to step up to the Premier League and I cannot wait to get started.”
