Galatasaray star Victor Osimhen hasn’t closed the door on a transfer as Arsenal step in to sign him.
On Friday, Sport Witness relayed news that Arsenal are ‘confident’ of signing him before the window closes even though they haven’t submitted an offer yet. The Turkish club are hoping to collect at least €70m.
Agent steps in for Arsenal move
George Gardi acted as an intermediary in the Nigeria international’s transfer from Napoli to Galatasaray in 2024. The agent is now taking care of the interest and is trying to take the 27-year-old to the Emirates this summer.
That’s according to Sözcü Gazetesi, who state Arsenal are focusing on Victor Osimhen to improve their attack.
Vinícius Júnior signed an extension at Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid star Julián Alvarez has his heart set on joining Barcelona. This saw the Gunners shift their focus to Osimhen, who is a ‘more accessible and elite alternative’.
Gardi has stepped in and is now playing a key role in the negotiations. He had already invited Gunners sporting director Andrea Berta and head scout Maurizio Micheli to Istanbul for the derby win against Fenerbahçe in April.
The Turkish champions have held talks with the north London club for Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri. Arsenal took advantage of this to discuss the frontman.
Player responds amid Arsenal links
On Friday, the Süper Lig side had to settle for a 2-2 draw against Corum FK, courtesy of a late equaliser from the Arsenal target.
Victor Osimhen came off the bench to score a brace. After the match, he spoke to local media and Gazete Pencere have relayed his comments.
When asked about the exit links, he said: “There are always rumours during transfer seasons. I will focus on my job. I focus on my work. We’ll see and think about the future then.”
This shows the Nigerian isn’t closing the door on leaving Galatasaray, despite having a contract until 2029.
